Travel for Posers
The yogi traveler’s little black book
Sometimes when we?re leaving the gym, we see a flyer for a spirituality-focused trip to Mexico or a week of Costa Rican surf yoga. Wouldn?t that be dreamy? we think. Then we quickly forget all about it as we?re cursing a car that just cut us off in traffic.
Now we have a way to explore such trips from the safety of our laptop: online travel marketplace Seek Retreat. A combination travel-listings site and blog, Seek Retreat lists dozens of trips (and information on the teachers organizing them) coming up in the next six months. The trips are curated by the site?s founders, who are Venice-based yoga enthusiasts and world travelers.
Maybe we?ll ask our exhausted spouse to accompany us on a Costa Rican getaway where the emphasis is as much on sleeping in as on daily yoga classes. Or we?ll restore our inner and outer balance with seven days in Puerto Rico devoted to surfing, acrobatics and something called slacklining (yoga on a tightrope). Then again, maybe the culinary and yoga retreat to Fes, Morocco--which requires no skill other than sitting in a hammam--is more our speed.
Even if we don?t make it to a Seek Retreat soon, spending time surfing the site?s peaceful-looking vistas and beatific yogis is making us calmer already.
