Period lighting comes to L.A.
Ever like to drive through neighborhoods just to gawk at the houses? So do we. And now a new home store gives us a similar experience--differing architectural styles next to one another--in a big, beautiful loft.
Rejuvenation is a newly opened store for classic American lighting and home fixtures in Culver City's historic Helms Bakery. We've long admired the Portland-based brand online for its schoolhouse lights (from $152) and pendants (from $100). And we've enjoyed one-stop shopping there for cabinet, porch and electrical hardware.
But now we're reveling in all that plus the sunny 6,000-square-foot space, where lighting is arranged in areas such as Arts & Crafts, Classical Revival, Deco and many more. Each piece is custom-made, so you select the hardware, add a shade, then decide which of 12 finishes you'd like.
Order turnaround is a speedy two weeks, but for immediate gratification, there are gifts including reproduction jadeite mixing bowls ($37), little bird bottle openers ($14) and a collection of Edison bulbs (from $13).
It's like we get to take a souvenir from our architectural looky-loo drives.
