The lobby of the Ace Hotel Palm Springs has vintage leather chairs; the new cleat chair from Commune for Environment can be ordered with optional leather covers for a similarly sexy look.
This Commune-designed Silverlake living room has a mirrored coffee table that adds a bit of edge to nubby rugs and upholstery...
Two early prototypes of the cleat collection boxes are used as a coffee table at the Los Angeles Heath Ceramics shop. These 16-inch-by-16-inch cubes ($1,295 for each) come in black walnut, white oak or mirrored veneer and can be stacked securely thanks to a metal tab that fits into a groove.
The base of the black walnut dining table ($6,595) has a copper-and-brass lining that glows with reflected light.
We?re big fans of Commune, the hotshot design firm that?s earned decor accolades from A (for the Ace Hotel in Palm Springs) to V (a profile in Vogue). Now you can have a piece of the firm?s signature rustic-chic style in your own home with its just-introduced capsule collection of furniture. The pieces--polished black walnut, sexy brass surfaces and mirrored tables, chairs and stackable shelving--are a collaboration with Environment, the local furniture company devoted to sustainable practices.
Highlights include a fab dining room table ($6,595) with brass-covered legs that glow in reflected light, elegantly simple dining room chairs with brass details ($645) and sturdy boxes ($1,295) that can be stacked as shelves or used as bedside tables. We think a piece or two of Commune for Environment would add eclectic warmth to many decor styles: midcentury modern sleekness, Hollywood Regency glamour or even Early American classicism.
