Basics but Better
Rocker-cool style from Anine Bing
We love the supercool, just-thrown-on rocker-chic look pioneered by fashion icons like Kate Moss. But how to master this style while appearing groomed and age-appropriate? Thanks to local model-musician turned designer Anine Bing, now we know.
Scandinavian-born Bing traveled the world first as a model, then as a sexy chanteuse for indie band Kill Your Darlings. Now she?s settled down with her family here in L.A. and has begun designing clothes that don?t make her look like a wild child running errands on La Brea. That includes perfect white blouses in linen ($199) and even polyester ($169), the preferred travel fabric for the globe-trotting Bing. There?s a perfect white linen-cotton summer sweater ($199) as well as a pull-on cream-colored silk dress ($299).
Bing livens up these basics with lightweight leather jackets, including this tastefully studded number ($1,099). And embellished ankle boots ($699) are a way to hip up any outfit without looking like you?re trying too hard.
We?re taking a page from off-duty models like Rosie Huntington-Whiteley and Alessandra Ambrosio and mixing some Anine Bing into our repertoire.
