On hot summer days, we like to just throw on a dress and go. Something that can take us from grocery shopping at Gelson?s to Sunset Tower sundowners while making us feel comfy, cool and chic. Exhibit A: the dress selection at new Sunset Junction boutique Bucks and Does.
The cheerful shop was opened by the designers behind Porridge, a brand we recognize as making everything from great dresses to accessories sold at Anthropologie. Porridge puts supercute patterns on everything (including home decor--just look at this wallpaper!), and head designer Laura O?Dell fills the store with bright examples of her own brand, available exclusively there (not even online!), as well as others including Lauren Moffatt and Harlyn. Tabletops display charming tops, bathing suits and jewelry.
Stopping into Bucks and Does is a jolt of creative inspiration. The place is akin to a fashion think tank, a vibe we attribute to the design workshop hidden behind a vintage door marked ?Owner? and a front window with rotating installations (mobiles, macramé) from crafting expert Cathy Callahan.
