Three chunky wood tables by Milo Baughman ($450) can be used as end tables or pieced together as a coffee table.
Decorating with vintage furniture is really hot right now, but the best flea market scores require a 6 a.m. alarm clock, and Craigslist demands nonstop trolling. We?ve opted for another decor source: the new online flea market FleaPop.
FleaPop is a thoroughly modern site that lets us browse and buy treasures for sale in the Los Angeles area. Sources are diverse; dealers, craftspeople and collectors all hawk their wares. And the selection is tops, taste-wise--we?ve ogled prestige brands including Milo Baughmam and Edward Wormley.
Prices are low, since founder Ross Resnick charges sellers only a 6 percent fee, less than the 30 percent often charged by consignment shops. Resnick dreamed up the site when he and his wife recently moved to Laurel Canyon and wanted entirely new decor, as well as an easy and economical way to offload their old furniture.
Which brings us to our favorite part of FleaPop--you can sell your old stuff! Setting up an online shop is simple: Just sign on via Facebook, follow a few simple guidelines for uploading photos, then wait to be contacted by interested buyers. All transactions are PayPal-protected, with pickup or delivery to be worked out with the buyer. Ah, our fantasy of opening our own little boutique has now been realized online.
