Shopclass recovers vintage furniture in a range of durable and colorful vintage textiles--here, a hot-looking slipper chair ($475).
At Shopclass, distinctive pendant lights ($95 to $295) are a reasonably priced way to jazz up a room.
Paging Don Draper's bar cart: Here, a set of five golden rocks glasses ($48) and six matching highball glasses ($68).
A highly collectible Lightolier chandelier from the 1960s ($750) hangs next to a commemorative flag.
An interior in the Hollywood Hills by decorator Sally Breer, one of the owners of Shopclass, shows how vintage pieces fit into a sophisticated contemporary design scheme.
Now we?re interested in the hood for destination shopping, too, since a decorator friend told us about Shopclass. A charming mix of gorgeous wood tables, chairs reupholstered in vintage fabrics and accessories including decorative Murano glass, the shop?s vibe is of a cluttered junk store. Except at Shopclass almost everything?s worth taking home.
It?s no wonder there are so many treasures: This is a three-way effort among Ellen LeComte of the Van Nuys-based shop/showroom Amsterdam Modern (you?ve seen their stuff on Mad Men), interior designer Sally Breer and former Austin antiques dealer Jeff Garbs. One of the trio is sure to be around the shop to spitball interiors ideas; if you don?t see something you?re after, they?re poised to keep an eye out.
And be sure to ask for directions to nearby Scoops ice cream for flavors like Brown Bread or even Pizza. Between that and our Shopclass booty, we?re convinced this neighborhood has the urban renewal problem licked.
