A hit design team’s new outdoor fabrics
We?re dying to turn our underutilized deck into the outdoor living room we?ve always wanted. Enter the designers from DwellStudio, who?ve launched a new collection of bright outdoor upholstery.
The mixable and matchable solids and patterns caught our eye during a recent trip to the Pacific Design Center?s showroom for Robert Allen, the fine furniture and fabric makers who collaborated with Dwell?s Christiane Lemieux on the more than 50 new fabrics. We like how the collection has a strong point of view--the happy modernist sensibility that DwellStudio?s been mining since its 1999 founding--and that it?s highly versatile. There are solids, stripes and foliage patterns that all work together when matched in the same color family.
For a full-pool-deck makeover, we could see a turquoise medley of Locking Dots as a base upholstery, and in pillows, a mix of the Jacinto geometric, the Lazy Cabana stripe and the animal-adorned Jungalow. Fabrics run from $68 to $149 a yard and are available to see in person at the Robert Allen showroom and for retail purchase on the DwellStudio website. And since they?re made in durable, colorfast Sunbrella material, we can enjoy their vibrancy for seasons to come.
