A Mexican getaway for bookworms
Situated between the Pacific and the Sea of Cortez, luscious Mexican resort Las Ventanas al Paraíso has long been one of our favorite getaways. And we've got an excuse to return this fall, when the resort hands out a gossipy new book about Los Angeles real estate and hosts an author dinner.
The book, Unreal Estate: Money, Ambition, and the Lust for Land in Los Angeles, isn't in stores until November. But on the weekend of October 22, best-selling author Michael Gross will bring advance copies to Las Ventanas guests, then join them for a dinner at which he'll share some of the stories in the book--and perhaps a few uncorroborated tidbits that didn't make it in.
After all, Gross is the author of 740 Park: The Story of the World's Richest Apartment Building, so he knows a thing or two about land scandal. His new book is sure to have tongues wagging all over the West Side--and we want to be the first on our block to get the scoop.
The package ($2,430) includes two nights' stay, two dinner seats, daily breakfast and round-trip airport transfers.
