Mod prints are a little bit '80s, and their busy patterns are more flattering than clingy solid colors.
We’re mad for the British chain Topshop, with its on-trend and colossal collection of apparel, shoes and accessories. Unlike many other affordable chains, these threads are made to last. (We still rock the crop jacket we bought a decade ago on London’s Oxford Street.) So we were chuffed (as the Brits say) to check out the spring trends at the new 30,000-square-foot boutique in the Grove.
Florals: Cabbage roses glow from a floral print skirt ($70), bright yet refined tangerine poesy jacquard trousers ($90) are hipster cool, and an ice-blue jacquard jacket ($140) lends ladylike elegance to everything from a pencil skirt to jeans.
White: We’re envisioning a silk tux jacket ($300) from the upscale Unique collection as an evening jacket, while a self-tie sundress ($72) is perfect for alfresco luncheons.
Graphic patterns: A combo of geometric shorts ($70) and a biker jacket ($130) is a fun ’80s-era flashback. And irresistible giant-polka-dot trousers ($84) will be in heavy rotation for our dinner parties--their polyester fabric wears like iron.
Even when these items are gone, the hundreds of new pieces Topshop gets in every week mean we’ll never have to leave the store without a fast and painless retail fix.
