A jewelry shop and nail salon in one
Just like a local bar, everyone has their favorite nail salon. But we?ve broken out of our usual manicure rut with a new nail-salon-jewelry-store hybrid that makes us feel cooler just by hanging out in its gallery-like space.
Candy Paint is the name of the four-technician nail salon that takes up the right side of just-opened jewelry boutique Melody Ehsani (more on the namesake owner in a moment). At Candy Paint, Japanese nail-art expert Yoko Sakakura cheerfully offers customers overflowing jars of sweets while they choose sample gel colors and Swarovski-bedecked designs. Gel manicures begin at $40, and you can get wild patterned nail wraps ($16) designed by Ehsani in collaboration with NCLA.
Be sure to show up early for your appointment, as you?ll want time to enjoy the eye candy. Neon signs blaze from stark white walls, and necklaces, rings and earrings from Los Angeles native Ehsani (beloved by Rihanna and other celebs) hang from arms jutting off the walls. While the reasonably priced wares (jewelry begins at $30) are a bit flamboyant for us, we ordered a custom nameplate necklace ($48) for a twentysomething family member and enjoyed browsing the retro-?80s colors and styles.
