A shop dresses the hostess--and her table
Charming and wide-eyed, Chay Wike has come up with a winning new idea for a shop. Her Chay boutique on West Third Street is dedicated to everything the Angeleno woman needs to create an alluring dinner party.
First, of course, there is the pressing question of what to wear. The answer comes in Wike?s own clothing designs, the actress turned fashion designer?s happy marriage of comfort and chic. Silk jumpsuits (from $245) come in long-sleeved and tank versions. (She admits to sleeping in the latter, then wearing it out for brunch the next day.) Leather skirts (from $445), button-front blouses ($315) and a sexy long slip dress ($365) round out the selection.
Moving on to the party guests: They?ll appreciate recipes from the indie magazines Wike sells (Kinfolk, Gather Journal and Canal House Cooking) and heirloom-worthy service items including geometric stone trivets ($84), a jewelry-like brass bottle opener ($70), handmade knives (from $355) and ceramics made by Mud Australia ($130).
Wike lives with her family in the Hollywood Hills, so she?s thought of everything a guest needs to be comfortable--including throw blankets for cuddling up as a chill settles on the patio.
