On Your Marks
Luxe furniture from a top decorator
We like to watch Bravo?s Million Dollar Decorators for a bit of drama (such as the LiLo traffic mishap on last night?s season finale) and stellar renovations. The cast member we?d most like to hire is Jeffrey Alan Marks, who, with his life and business partner, Ross Cassidy, wows us with elegant yet comfortable interiors.
Now we can bring the handsome Marks home through new designs from high-end furniture maker Palecek. Lighting, seating, accessories and more incorporate leather, wicker and other natural materials, hallmarks of the designer?s signature preppy-meets-California casual look. Fittingly, his two collections have Golden State names: The Palo Alto collection is titled after the San Francisco Bay area where Marks grew up, while the La Jolla collection references his home as a young adult.
To get a look at the furniture in person, visit the Palacek showroom at the L.A. Mart downtown. Keep your eyes peeled for the Middlefork Center Table ($3,324), a rounded table perfect to anchor a foyer. It?s a well-made yet accessibly priced piece (especially from a chap who might spend five figures on a Christian Liaigre bench) that's sure to become a family heirloom.
