Rebecca Minkoff
Rebecca Minkoff and her new Cupid bag

Handbags by native San Diegan Rebecca Minkoff are known for their go-anywhere good looks. Classic yet fashion-forward, they are suitable for day or night. (Her best-seller, the $525 Morning After bag, got its name due to its versatility.)

And now Minkoff's handbags, apparel, shoes and other accessories have their first dedicated SoCal retail space. Her new shop-within-a-shop in Silverlake is a showplace for the colorful fashions that perfectly fit our area's love of comfortable-yet-sexy style.

Minkoff's new shared digs (with men's store Confederacy) include her classic handbag styles, such as the duffel bag-inspired Matinee ($495) and the slouchy, buttery-soft Nikki Hobo ($495), as well as her luxury collection pieces, including the chain-strapped ostrich-skin Allie ($2,200). Shoes range from gilded flats ($185) to dressy snakeskin-accented heels ($325).

Decor comprises exposed brick, antiqued fixtures and vintage telephone booths repurposed as dressing rooms, the better to try on selections from Minkoff's three-year-old clothing line. We especially like her bright separates, notably her blue tuxedo-inspired silk jacket ($325).
