We?ve been hearing a lot about the nationwide craze of underground dinners, the cheffy one-night meals presented in ever-changing locations. These pop-up parties are such closely guarded secrets--with room for so few guests--that they?re generally full before we can even attempt a reservation.
But now we?ve learned about an upcoming meal that?s not only mouthwatering but also has room for up to 300 people. On October 14, the acclaimed chef-catering outfit Secret Table is hosting a tapas-and-dancing evening at Malibu?s Rosenthal Tasting Room. In this indoor-outdoor space directly across from the beach, guests will dine on Spanish fare like chile prawns and tiny meatballs, as well as Mailbu-made wine.
Each element of the evening is sterling: Secret Table is the buzzed-about operation whose monthly dinners challenge discerning Angeleno palates, while Rosenthal Estate Winery is a pioneer in award-winning local Cabs, Chards and more.
The event ($70 a ticket) begins at 4 p.m. and lasts until sundown with live music and a DJ. Now all we have to work out is an outfit that flows as agreeably as the wine.
