Styles influenced by punk rock continue to be hot trends in hair and nails, but dramatic ombré locks are not for everyone.

Now a softer two-tone look has caught our eye. Master colorist Kazumi Morton at Neil George Salon has perfected what she calls ?baby hair?--color that mimics the sun-kissed look of virgin locks. This gradual dark-to-light shade is achieved with the meticulous and well-blended application of highlights to the tips of hair and sometimes around the face as well.

Drawing inspiration from her children, Morton dubbed the style ?baby hair,? but on grown-ups the effect is more like babe hair--soft and natural with bodacious volume.

The Vidal Sassoon-trained Morton uses her years of experience in choosing just the right colors to complement each individual?s skin tone (highlights from $225), and she?s also an ace at color correction, specializing in fixing dye-challenged manes. Plus, since hair health comes first with her, she?ll even turn down a color request if it would damage over-processed locks. Instead, she sends clients home with a custom regimen to help restore their hair for a future treatment.
