It?s that time of year: With summer winding down and fall revving up, we?re vowing to get organized. Step one is fun: browsing the goods at Paper Source.

The Chicago-based company has more stores in California than any other state, with two just-opened shops in our area--one in Canoga Park and one on West Third Street.

The highlights are definitely the wall and desk calendars. After all, as much as we love our smartphones, a central wall-mounted calendar is nice to behold and easy for household members to consult. Our favorites are the utilitarian Great Big Wall Calendar ($30) and the Academic Blotter Calendar ($27).

We?re also picking up a new journal/appointment book called the Smash Folio (from $10), which is designed to hold cards, tickets, even upholstery samples. And accessories like cute label makers ($14) and tabs ($3) turn today?s to-do list into tomorrow?s attractive journal entry.

Paper Source also offers regular workshops. This fall?s batch includes a best-of class on September 27 ($35) and a holiday decorations session on October 13 ($30). With coaching like this, we just might sail stylishly through the next busy season.
