When it comes to sweets, we?re down with the brown?anything brown: chocolate, peanut butter and especially caramel. So naturally we?re super-amped about the new, locally handmade treats from Crack Caramel.

Caramel is one of the simplest (and we think most delicious) of candies: Basically, it?s sugar heated up slowly to alchemize, with a few flavors added. But what makes Crack Caramel so remarkably delicious is the simplicity; it?s made with only five ingredients (brown sugar, sweet cream butter, organic heavy cream, Madagascar vanilla and pink Himalayan salt). There are no emulsifiers or preservatives in these small batches, made every Thursday in Beverly Hills. So we?re left with what tastes like old-fashioned homemade candy.

Equally fun is the old-timey packaging. The bars ($12) and 40-bite batches ($45) are wrapped in simple brown paper, and little lollipops (our favorite) rest atop tiny wooden sticks (30 for $55).
