Olympic tennis matches begin this Saturday, and former champ Venus Williams will be struggling to regain the gold after recent setbacks. But no matter her score, we think she?s still a grand slam winner for her tennis apparel line, EleVen.
Los Angeles native Williams launched the line in 2007 after graduating from fashion school, only to see it flounder when the retail sponsor went bankrupt. After gigs designing upscale tennis wear for Ralph Lauren and Gilt.com, Williams is relaunching a full new collection of tops, skirts and leggings--all available online.
Though Williams has historically pushed the bounds of traditional tennis etiquette by competing in cancan-girl-inspired getups and flesh-toned bloomers, EleVen?s styles are more preppy and refined. Think charcoal, pink or white polo tops ($58) and black pleated skirts ($52).
We like the designs? little extras, such as small charms sewn on shirts in place of a logo and the added bit of white collar sprucing up the black Love tank ($51). Die-hard fans will want to pick up the same dress that Venus wore in the Sony Ericsson Open, a sleek column of graphic black and white ($96).
