A new drop-in color salon
In the ?why hasn?t anyone thought of this before?? department, we offer exhibit A: Tint Santa Monica, a new hair salon that colors your hair without an appointment.
The bright little salon on Second Street was started by veteran L.A. colorists Frank Dino and Dana Clark to meet the needs of their busy clientele--people like us who might not have time to wait weeks for a simple touch-up or a few foils. On a recent visit, we dropped in to find a knowledgeable colorist who recommended a tint ($49) to cover a half inch of regrowth and a toner ($15) to brighten our chlorine-dulled tips.
We spent 45 minutes Web-surfing while our color processed, then were directed to a self-dry station with brushes and styling products. (Note to self: We can totally skip the drying part without feeling as if we?ve insulted our colorist.)
Best of all, the colorist jotted down the Schwarzkopf formula she used (a lustrous brown) and saved it for our next visit--making things even speedier. We predict color-only salons like these will soon be as popular as the now-ubiquitous blow-dry bars.
