We love our wardrobe investment pieces: silk scarves, tasteful flats, elegant clothing. But sometimes the classics worn together seem a bit staid. We?re happy to have discovered Kendall Conrad, a new shop with the designer's super well made but subtly hip leather goods.
Conrad originally hails from Santa Barbara, where she lived between global jaunts with her family, including the Spanish bullfighting sojourns that would wind up in her father Barnaby?s best-selling book Matador. Perhaps it was such early exposure to all those saddles, stirrups and reins that inspired Conrad to dream up her elegant yet utilitarian designs made with fine leather and brass fittings.
There are little baubles, such as the Chicuelos braided leather cuff ($60) and the tribal-inspired La Cincha cuff in black, chocolate, distressed or white leather ($215). We also love her hammered brass bracelets (from $75), rings (from $37) and hoop earrings (from $105).
We'll be considering larger accessories, such as a delicious alligator tote ($8,000) and zippered napa leather Casimira shoulder bag ($1,200), in repeat visits to the designer's black-and-while bijoux box of a store in the Brentwood Country Mart. Using these beautiful pieces for years to come is our idea of an ROI.
