Nothing makes us feel like a playful kid again like horsing around in a pool. That's why this Mother's Day, we're thanking Mom with a special class in water ballet from Aqualillies.
The six-woman water ballet troupe has spent the last year performing at glittering venues--like the time Jessica Biel got them to perform at Justin Timberlake's house for his birthday, or when they gave pointers to the cast of Glee. Or for that matter, the many times they've swum atop David Hockney's masterful brushstrokes in the Hollywood Roosevelt pool. But this May 13, they'll have eyes only for Mom.
In a special two-hour workshop ($35), they'll teach synchronized swimming moves such as sculling (swishing your hands to stay afloat and move) and ballet legs (floating on your back with one leg pointing upward). At the very least, participants will learn a simple routine and come away with catchphrases to use while watching the synchronized-swimming competition in the 2012 London Olympic games.
Even after Mother's Day, the Aqualillies will continue teaching group classes at the Annenberg Beach House in Santa Monica. Six-class packages cost $160, while individual tutoring is $99--but that's a small price to pay for the most fun workout we've had since we filled out our swimsuit.
