The Cloud Scroll Negative pattern in indigo. It is also available in hues named mahogany, allspice and edamame.
Katie Leede is a rising star in the world of interior design. The Angeleno creates homes that are both comfy and sophisticated, and she's earned the respect of well-heeled clients and design bloggers across the country.
Now we're excited by her latest project: upholstery fabrics. Her patterns manage to be both completely original and instant classics--perhaps it's because Leede is inspired by some of the world's most beautiful objects. We loved her first collection, Ra, which was inspired by trips to the Metropolitan Museum of Art's Egyptian wing. Its papyrus flowers and scrollwork make us want to book passage on a barge along the sunlit Nile.
Her just-released collection of Japanese prints are derived from vintage kimonos. Pomegranates and Peonies takes flowers and butterflies in a decidedly non-girlie direction, while Weeping Willows is restful. There's also a fierce graphic border print, Cloud Scroll Negative, and an interpretation of a hot trend: ikat.
The linen fabrics come in numerous colorways and range from $125 to $165 per yard. They're available online, but we're taking time to browse them in person at fine upholstery house Holland & Sherry. A few pillows or a chair redone in these prints is just the thing to give our house a fresh touch of springtime.
