Consign your designer clothes from home
Ready to spring-clean your closet? Us, too. The project just got a lot easier with The Real Real, a website dedicated to selling luxury brands for less--from Hermès totes to Chanel suits to ever-coveted Louboutins.
Founder Julie Wainwright launched the site last June to make the consignment process simpler and more convenient for both buyers and sellers. Consigners also get a higher percentage of sales (60 percent versus the usual 50 percent from consignment stores), and shoppers can purchase items online. (Wainwright's favorite personal find to date, by the way, is a sexy Lanvin sheath.)
For Angelenos with 10 or more items to sell, The Real Real sends a stylist to your home to help organize and unearth the designer gems from your entire closet for consignment. (You'll be in good company: Celebs like Molly Sims have consigned clothes on the site for L.A.-based charity Chrysalis.) And for shoppers just on the hunt for good deals, get ready to flip over discounted finds from top sellers like Chloé, Manolo Blahnik, Louis Vuitton and Tory Burch.
We're happy not to have to spend a million bucks to look that way.
