Remember when eyeglasses were super-expensive and labor-intensive? You had to do lots of legwork to try on that one pair that would go with everything, then carry them to your optometrist to be fit with your prescription?

Welcome to Eyewear 2.0. New e-tailer Lookmatic sells 48 styles each of women's reading and sunglass frames costing $58 with plain glass and $88 with prescription lenses.

Skeptical that such low-priced frames are really high-quality and good-looking? We were, too, until we dropped by the pop-up Lookmatic shop inside one of our favorite fashion-forward boutiques, Ten Over Six. Sturdy and flattering, the frames look and feel like pricier hand-polished specs.

We love designs such as Dane (square-ish geek-chic) as well as Payton (oversized cat-eyes). At these prices, we're even considering a pair of red Holly frames for when our outfit needs a colorful jolt.

The pop-up is only open until the end of January, but after that you can still see how glasses will look on you using Lookmatic's fun virtual try-on. But try to swing by Ten Over Six, where the sales staff will offer a 25 percent discount.
