Decades ago, women kept weekly hair appointments to get their tresses rolled and styled. Then we all got jobs (yay, feminism) and fast-paced lives and forgot all about keeping our crowning glory in regal shape.
Now a 24-year-old whiz-kid stylist is trying to bring back that level of meticulous grooming. Presenting: L.A.’s first membership salon.
Society Salon is the brainchild of Sally Hershberger alum Sam DiVine, who offers three levels of all-you-can-style buffet. First there’s the Social membership ($80 a month), which gets you unlimited blowouts. (By comparison, Drybar charges $75 for a mere two appointments a month.) Then there’s the Standard membership ($120 a month), which gets you unlimited blowouts, cuts and single process color. Finally, there’s the Signature option ($180 a month), which gets you all of the above, as well as unlimited highlights and low lights.
Commitment averse? You can get single treatments, too--but be careful: DiVine says most of her clients get hooked and become members.
