You can pay top dollar for leather goods carrying someone else?s logo, or you can get something really special instead: a bag emblazoned with your own custom-designed crest.
That?s the cool new concept of leather goods maker Parabellum.
The Los Angeles-based luxury brand has just opened its first shop on Melrose, with a rainbow of handmade bags (from $995), wallets (from $150) and belts (from $545) to choose from. Designs are influenced by the Western frontier (crinkled bison leather, arrow-shaped accents), as well as urban chic (sophisticated silhouettes, fashion-forward colors).
What we love: Most pieces can be stamped with a custom-made crest. You book an appointment with creative director Jason Jones to discuss your likes, dislikes and overall style, then he comes up with a sketch for you to approve. Afterward, the company strikes large and small plates to imprint your current and future purchases. (You?ll be in good company: Arnold Schwarzenegger and French boutique Colette both have had crests designed.) It's free when you spend over $1,000 and only takes a couple weeks.
That?s a pretty quick turnaround for some pretty smart branding.
