A street festival for dogs in Century City
Well, dogs will finally have their day. This Sunday, our four-legged friends will take over the Westfield Century City mall for the third annual Doggie Street Festival, which promotes pet adoption and all-around pet health. That?s right--you can bring Fido to the canine version of a BFF shopping afternoon.
Like all street fairs, there will be kiosks offering treats for both people and dogs (woof to the organic and gluten-free ground beef, brown rice and Fuji apple meal from Malibu Dog Kitchen), as well as dog photography sessions and even animal-themed art (check out these pillows decorated a la Leonardo da Vinci).
Besides being a venue for unique pet-related gifts, this festival lets you and your dog meet and mingle with eligible adoptees from local no-kill shelters. This means that woman?s best friend can browse his or her fellow canines (and felines) for the most compatible companion and take them right home. (At a similar event in San Diego, 125 pets were adopted in a day.) Your pup can even sign up to be one of those LAX therapy dogs that ambles around making everyone feel less stressed out.
The event runs from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., so there?s plenty of time to drop by. And who knows--maybe you?ll meet another pet lover for walks a deux.
