Calypso’s founder opens a new shop
We?ve wondered for five long years what Christiane Celle, the founder of Calypso, would do after selling her line (darn you, noncompete!). Finally, we have an answer--and it?s right in our backyard, where Calypso started, on Newtown Lane.
Clic General Store is a haute hodgepodge of clothing, accessories and housewares personally curated by Celle, who wanted the shop to be stylish yet accessible (price points range from a $5 postcard to a $750 boho fringed bag made in Kenya). Among the elevated beach-attire offerings are breezy cover-ups ($165), leather sandals from Majorca ($125) and airy strapless Liberty of London floral tops ($165).
The mom of two also assembled a darling kids? collection, so you can dress your brood in whimsical embroidered dresses ($200) and mini aprons that come with wooden utensils ($45). Shop the home section to make your pad photo-shoot-ready with everything from nautical napkins ($20 each) to a decorative bow ($195) and arrows ($95 each). Yeah, we?re still on the South by Southwest-chic thing.
