Travel the East End on the Hampton Hopper
No one likes being stuck in traffic on 27. That’s why the folks behind the just-launched Hampton Hopper are looking to shake up the East End’s transportation scene.
The Hampton Hopper’s fleet of light-green converted school buses zooms from village to village, offering everyone an effortless, affordable, fun and safe way to frequent Hamptons hot spots like Cyril’s Fish House and Surf Lodge.
Here’s how it works: Download the Hampton Hopper app and check to see the next bus that might work for you. While there is no traditional fixed timetable, the app shows users where the stops are, where the Hoppers currently are and when you can expect yours to arrive (the buses hit each stop about every 45 minutes).
So if you’re at Montauk Beach House and you want to go to Sole East, you might see that an eastbound bus is 15 minutes away.
The idea is to combine transportation with socialization (who needs Tinder?), and with buses running all weekend (noon to 2 a.m. on Fridays and Saturdays; noon to 10 p.m. on Sundays), it’s easy to coordinate plans with friends.
Plus, unlike your summer-camp school bus, the Hampton Hopper won’t give you the boot for bringing a boozy beverage on board.
Day passes start at $20.
