Ahhh, the romance of sailing--and the relief of a respite from the Hamptons hustle and bustle.
Sit back and enjoy the smooth East End waters with Little Dutch Sailing Charters, a new company offering day trips, sunset sails and weekend or weeklong charters aboard a Whitby 42 sailboat. Each excursion can accommodate four to six people and is led by a certified U.S. Coast Guard captain.
“But where will I go?” you ask. Well, the Little Dutch will traverse the waters of Long Island, anchoring in places like Coecles Harbor on Shelter Island and Fishers Island in Long Island Sound. You can also take a longer trip to places like Block Island, Cuttyhunk Island and Martha’s Vineyard. (Hop aboard at Three Mile Harbor, Sag Harbor, Greenport, Shelter Island or Montauk.)
Worried about cramming all of your pals onto a boat? Don’t. In fact, you can think of the spacious vessel as a floating cottage with all the swanky amenities (showers, beds, fully equipped kitchen). Meals and snacks are served either below deck or topside alfresco and include grilled steak, green salad and bacon-and-eggs breakfasts.
Into shopping or sunning beachside? No problem. A dinghy is on hand to ferry guests to secluded beaches or nearby towns and villages.
Prices range from $125 per person for day sails to $1,250 per person for weekend charters; 917-513-5724 or littledutchsailing.com
