Out of the Saddle
A new way to break a sweat at SoulCycle
We hate the term cult-like, but there’s no denying that SoulCycle has a cult-like following.
Still, if high-powered yoga on a bicycle isn’t for you, we’ve got good news: For July and August, the beloved cycling mega-brand will offer several total-body classes at its East Hampton studio. Popular instructors will take over the lower level, each teaching their own unique full-body workout.
If you’re a CrossFit fan, try Akin Akman’s boot-camp-inspired class, which uses BOSU trainers, steps and hand weights. Is toning more your thing? Go for Rique Uresti’s strengthening class, which is designed to enhance not only your beach bod (with an emphasis on backside-sculpting moves) but also your cycling ability. Still want some bike work? In Emily Turner’s sessions, students will rotate between pedaling/tapping it back on the bike and doing a series of floor exercises like planks, mountain climbers, lunges and squats.
We’re betting it won’t be long before type-A Hampton-goers start squeezing two--or even three--classes into their weekend visits.
Classes are $40 each and can be booked with a regular Hamptons class series. 68 Newtown Lane, East Hampton; 631-324-6600 or soul-cycle.com
