Can You Dig It?
A new happy hour with a gardening twist
Sure, downing two-for-one cocktails with friends is a Thursday-night tradition. But what’s the harm in changing up your routine once in a while?
For your next outing, head to Redenta’s.
The organic garden center hosts a monthly happy hour--every third Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m.--at its aptly named Potting Bar. The twist is that you place your order with a “bartender,” who pots a plant for you right before your eyes.
After reviewing the chalkboard menu, we went for the Aloe Shot ($12), an aloe haworthia in a three-inch zinc container, and decided to add a “shot” of colorful rocks ($2) to brighten up the soil.
Since this is a happy hour after all, free beers from local breweries and light snacks are on hand while you learn how to care for your greenery. And once you’re done with said beer, you can recycle the can by having it cut in half and turned into a darling succulent container ($10).
Can’t make it to a Thursday-night event? You can always visit the Potting Bar during normal business hours. Either way, you’ll become a Redenta’s regular.
