A vegetable-centric food-delivery service
Claudia Sheddy wants you to eat your vegetables, and she?s making it pretty darn easy.
The Fort Worth transplant?s new business, My Sweet Roots, sends nutritious, tasty food straight to your door (with a minimum $50 order) faster than you can pick up the phone to dial for delivery.
After moving here a few years ago, Sheddy found a dearth of earth-minded catering companies (we do love our hush puppies, don?t we?), so she launched her business with an eye toward offering attractively presented, vegetable-centric entrees. All the ingredients she uses are organic and sodium-free.
The results are both delectable and virtuous. We love her adorable mason-jar meals--think Tuscan minestrone soup ($10) and coconut green-curry lime chicken ($10)--with ingredients stacked in a rainbow of flavors. Plus, since all entrees are packaged in biodegradable containers, you can feel good about the fact that you?re not increasing your carbon footprint.
The menu includes everything from savory breakfast bowls (pulled pork, sweet potatoes and scrambled eggs, $6.50) to hearty sides (sweet potato hummus, $7) to solid lunches and dinners (the mayo-less chicken salad, $8, is to die for).
Think of it as food so yummy you just might forget you?re loading up on antioxidant-rich, nutrient-dense fare.
My Sweet Roots currently delivers to Tarrant County addresses only. Orders can be picked up at Abundio?s Studio, 2908 Cullen St., Fort Worth.
