The potpie comes home to roost
Nothing says it?s cold outside like a potpie in your oven.
But the hearty dish can be a little complicated to make, not to mention time-consuming. Plus, show of hands if you have 10 ramekins.
Luckily, we?ve found two new spots that are offering the winter staple on their menus:
The Black Rooster Bakery Marche Ann Mann?s three-year-old Forest Park-area French-inspired bakery scores in the scones and croissants department. But even more impressive are her chicken potpies, available every Wednesday and Saturday. Stuffed with white-meat chicken and assorted vegetables like pearl onions, peas and potatoes, they are not drowning in sauce but are infused with a rosemary-rich flavor. The crust is killer-buttery, so share the potpie with a friend and add a side salad if you?re worried about the calories. (2430 Forest Park Blvd., Fort Worth)
Hannah?s Off the Square The menu items at this Denton haunt are eclectic, and the fairly frequent potpie lunch special is no exception. Inside a cheddar-cheese puff-pastry crust you?ll find a stew-y, Guinness-fortified combination of chunky pieces of beef and vegetables like carrots and celery. (111 W. Mulberry St., Denton)
