Highland Park Hit
Comfort food with playful panache
Do you like your tuna tartare whimsical and your french fries plentiful?
Despite the eatery?s ostensibly stuffy neighbors, the dining experience is fun and accessible, toeing the casual-upscale line with all the grace of a Carolina Herrera white shirt.
From the tuna tartare ($15), which is topped with--who?d have thunk?--crispy quinoa, peanuts and a mango yolk, to the steak frites ($22) paired with the best matchstick french fries we?ve ever tasted, the food is familiar but the presentation is gorgeous. Note the parsley-flecked pat and a half of butter atop the steak and the veritable avalanche of frites.
With an open kitchen, cute banquettes and large windows overlooking the Village, it is family-friendly (read: our server was cool when our kid overturned his water glass) and boasts a children?s menu adults will swoon over (s?mores sundae, anyone?).
This is one culinary playground where everyone is sure to play nice.
