A spa that gives food a good name
When we recently pulled up to the Lake Austin Spa Resort (LASR) enclave, perched practically in a gorgeous tributary of Lake Austin, we were well on the path to cosmic bliss.
After all, who wouldn?t be excited about their Anti-Aging Skin Brightening Facial, Thai Massage or Seaweed Scrub?
But while the beauty and skin regimens--all of which scream ?girls? weekend!?--were pretty darn amazing, what really got us going was the food.
Yes, it?s that good. Each reservation package at LASR (a three-night stay starts at about $1,700 per person for a double room) comes with healthy meals included--three per day, including a mid-afternoon snack, like brownie-batter frozen yogurt.
For lunch, we savored the lobster tartine sandwich (light on mayo and with exquisite chunks of fresh lobster); for dinner, we couldn?t get enough of the chile relleno (full of unconventional ingredients, like walnuts and raisins). But honestly, everything we ate from chef Stéphane Beaucamp?s kitchen was fabulous.
Hey, who says you can?t feel blissed out and full, all at once?
