If hopping a plane to Provence isn?t happening this summer, may we suggest the next best thing: a trip to Celeste (just east of McKinney and west of Greenville), featuring the official parfum de France?
Savannah?s Meadow is a newly opened venture--part lavender farm, part bed and breakfast--that highlights the plant in all its splendor.
The 18-acre property currently sports the hard-to-grow beauties in full and aromatic bloom, and day visitors are encouraged to pick a bunch to take home (well worth the $5!).
That said, we prefer to stay the weekend at the farm?s Majestic Oak Tree House, a gorgeous overlook that sleeps six and has a full bath, hot tub and kitchenette ($185/weekend nights). From high above, you?ll take in the lush lavender fields as well as a fishing hole, walking and running trails, and dedicated picnic areas.
It?s like visiting France but with the Texas twang.
Friday through Sunday, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.; 4473 FM 903, Celeste; 214-668-4299 or savannahsmeadowllc.com
