Deep in the heart of Texas summertime, we can’t even think about drinking something that isn’t ice-cold. (We’d pretty much live inside a freezer if we could.) So what better time to tour our local breweries? A few frothy finds:

Rahr & Sons Brewing Co. This Fort Worth brewery offers semiweekly tours. Try the Wednesday-night option, which tends to be smaller and often features specialty beers such as Stormcloud a German-influenced India pale ale. Wednesdays, 5:30 to 7 p.m., $10; 701 Galveston Ave., Fort Worth, 817-810-9266

Revolver Brewing The Granbury-based brewery has a weekly tour that starts at noon on Saturday. Plan to arrive before 2 p.m. to get the full bang for your ten bucks: four eight-ounce tastings. We love the Blood & Honey, a golden ale that gets its citrusy flavor from the zest of blood oranges. Saturdays, noon to 3 p.m., $10; 5650 Matlock Rd., Granbury, 817-736-8034

Martin House Brewing Co. Get to know the relatively new brewery on a Saturday-afternoon tour that includes a tasting of Day Break, which is--wait for it--a breakfast beer brewed with milk and honey. Saturdays, 2 to 5 p.m., $10; 220 S. Sylvania Ave., Fort Worth, 817-222-0177
