A Dallas company revamps the pillow
Pillow buying can be a restless endeavor. (Just what exactly is natural fill anyway?)
But leave it to one savvy Dallas businesswoman to make the experience both eye-opening and enjoyable.
The Pillow Bar is a retail kiosk--featured in eight linen stores across the country--that creates luxurious, Hungarian-goose down pillows for each individual customer. Founder Merrimac Dillon calls it ?Build-A-Bear for adults.?
We took a trip to Linen Boutique to see Dillon?s patented pillow-making machine in action. All you have to do is give the associate a few specifics (your shoulder frame and preferred sleep style), and then, in a flurry of gravity-defying down, the machine creates your personalized pillow in 10 minutes, right before your eyes.
If you can?t make it to the store, you can still go online to buy pillows designed for your needs. For side sleepers, there?s the Dr. Mary ($345), designed by the Dallas Mavericks? chiropractor, which has a boomerang shape that cradles the head. There are also pillows for back and stomach sleepers ($229 to $319), all designed with head and neck positions in mind.
As if all this weren?t enough to get you resting easy, each hypoallergenic pillow comes with a snooze-inducing lavender sachet tucked inside.
