More than a month has gone by, yet we can’t stop daydreaming about the Dior dress Jennifer Lawrence wore to the Oscars. We might have a problem (or a restraining order) on our hands.
It’s true: Couture can sometimes leave us a little jaw-on-the-floor dumbfounded. And in the hallowed halls of fashion, no one of late seems to create that reaction quite like the House of Dior.
That’s why a trip to Highland Park Village is on order if you haven’t yet checked out the new store. (But first, pick your mouth up off the floor and pull yourself together.)
The sleek space evokes the Paris flagship with its mélange of metallic mirrors and four salonlike rooms dedicated to shoes, ready-to-wear, handbags and jewelry. It’s like the chicest Left Bank apartment, in the middle of Dallas.
In conjunction with the opening, a special exhibition of more than 60 Patrick Demarchelier photographs from his 2011 book Dior Couture is on view through April 19 in a separate space across the plaza.
A 2005 photo of Karlie Kloss in an embroidered coat from the John Galliano era perhaps sums it up best. Dior’s couture is the stuff of dreams.
