It’s not just you.
It seems we landlocked North Texans are envying Californians with increasing frequency: They have the surf, the turf (mountain getaways, anyone?) and, perhaps most important, that innate West Coast fashion sense. Often, after a taste, we’re left wanting more.
Nicole Musselman can help with that. She’s the mastermind behind Koch (pronounced “cook”), a Dallas-based line that revels in its California influence. Having grown up in Southern California, Musselman has a La Jolla joie de vivre and vitamin D aplenty.
Her clothing and accessories evoke a boho beach-bunny feel, and the spring 2013 collection ($55 to $825) is as refreshing as a cool Cali breeze.
From sporty, striped loose dresses, sleeveless tops and mesh sweaters (we heart the one-two punch of yellow and khaki) to tunics in prints festooned with half-moons, butterflies and iridescent snakes, the collection is approachable yet eclectic. Think Cameron Diaz on a very good outfit day.
Available online and exclusively at Cabana, the line that began eight years ago in an Oak Cliff studio is body-conscious (but not baring) and a perfect fit for our very own landscape.
