The Lotus necklace ($485) in Aegean Blue is the designer's favorite piece in the collection. It features genuine turquoise and cobalt blue stones set into 14 karat gold-plated frames.
These Papyrus earrings ($225), with their muted palette, epitomize the timelessness of Sadoughi's first collection.
The Stone Column slider bracelet in Sea Blue ($325) bears a Sadoughi hallmark: simple geometric forms.
The collection also features crystal, like this Nile ring ($95).
The Chain Tassel necklace ($175) is reminiscent of ancient Egyptian jewels.
One look at the inspiration board on costume jewelry designer Lele Sadoughi?s website says it all.
The Dallas native--who has worked for a slew of big names in fashion, including Ippolita, J.Crew and Tory Burch (where she is currently the director of design for jewelry)--has a thing for dramatic Egyptian touchstones: Cleopatra, architectural deco columns and scarab drawings, to name a few. Her new eponymous jewelry line is filled with vivid imagery of those ancient times.
?I am from Texas,? says Sadoughi, laughing.
Darn right she is. And the turquoise, cobalt blue and coral baubles will certainly fit right in amid our accessory-strewn landscape. Some 40 items (all under $500) constitute this first collection.
For next season, Sadoughi will turn her attention to creating bold geometric pieces connoting space and the galaxies.
With such a meteoric career, we wouldn?t expect anything less.
Lele Sadoughi?s spring line is available locally at Elements and Madison in Dallas, and at Lane Knight in Fort Worth. You can also find it at neimanmarcus.com.
