Our go-to shop is closing
You may have heard that Barneys New York is closing (for the second time) at NorthPark Center in a few weeks.
Or maybe you hadn?t heard. Perhaps that?s the problem--it probably wouldn?t be shuttering its doors if you had been shopping there like, ahem, we have.
But a girl?s gotta have new shoes (not to mention jewelry and the other accessories Barneys did so well), so here?s where we?ll be heading instead:
Ylang23 The Galleria jeweler (previously known as Ylang-Ylang) features a stellar lineup of statement pieces and trinkets alike. From Jennifer Meyer?s delicate charms to local girl-made-good Megan Thorne?s old-world scalloped rings and earrings, the selection is edgy but approachable, just like the sales staff themselves. (13350 Dallas Parkway; 972-980-0819)
Forty Five Ten The footwear selection at this beloved boutique most closely rivals the noted shoe department at Barneys, with even more fashion-forward styles. We?ll be trying on the new Maison Martin Margiela ballet flats ($470) and gorgeous Marni platform wedges ($685). (4510 McKinney Ave.; 214-559-4510)
Stanley Korshak For a hit of whimsy you could always count on the lower-level nook at Barneys, full of fun items like python-embossed journals ($98) and organic children?s clothes. But legendary Stanley Korshak is the real deal too, with merchandise that definitely has a more regional feel. Swarovski-encrusted champagne flutes ($200), anyone? (500 Crescent Court; 214-871-3600)
