If you want a perfect Lena Dunham shag or Zooey Deschanel bangs, stick to the neighborhood where such ladies would be likely to hang: Logan Square.
Specifically, head over to Logan Parlor, the new shoebox salon that’s as good as its Gold Coast counterparts--but without the high prices and Gwyneth blow-out culture.
We discovered the space (which basically looks like a cozy living room) by way of stylist Kate Gibson, who trained at the Aveda Advanced Academy. Gibson gives the kind of naturally pretty cuts that garner compliments by the dozens and don’t require much maintenance between appointments.
We recently went in for a simple cut with an eye toward getting rid of our bangs. Gibson snipped our locks into submission and handled what could be an awkward growing-out phase by giving us sexy, tousled face-framing fringe. The look has only gotten better in the weeks since our appointment.
Haircuts range from $40 to $60, and color runs from $50 (glaze overlay) to $120 (full highlights with toner).
In other words, the whole thing lacks pretension.
