CPL Maker Lab
Hooo knows what you'll print in the Maker Lab?

You used to make an afternoon of it: stop at the library, browse the World Wide Web, check out a chick-lit title and put your name on the waiting list for a best seller.

Then you got a Kindle, and every coffee shop got Wi-Fi.
?
Now there are new reasons to whip out your Chicago Public Library card. (If it?s been more than two years, get a new one.) ?

Here, why we still love the CPL:??

Maker Lab On the third floor of the Harold Washington branch, this techie haven lets you play around with a 3-D printer, a vinyl cutter and a laser cutter. Go during Open Lab hours and get a basic tutorial, or sign up for one of the lab?s free workshops. (Today at 1 p.m.: Print 3-D earrings.)

??Zinio This complimentary service gives CPL card members free access to more than 150 digital magazines, including faves like US Weekly and Shape, via your computer or mobile device. Since the platform is digital, there are no waits--catch up on Khloe and Lamar?s divorce anytime.??

Librarians They?re still fonts of knowledge trained to answer your every question, from how to start a business to how to find obscure info about your neighborhood. Listen and learn.
