Pressed for Time
A dry cleaner that works around your schedule
It’s never easy to find time to schlep your stuff to the corner dry cleaner, which is seemingly open only when you’re racing to catch the Brown Line train to work or chasing down deadlines at your desk miles away.
Now there’s an easier way to check “laundry” off your to-do list.
Pressbox is a new business that allows you to drop your wash-and-fold or dry cleaning at any time of the day (or night) in spacious lockers it’s placed in other stores, apartment buildings, offices, gyms and similar convenient spots around the city. (Check out the 35 locations so far; Union Station is coming this week.)
Sign up using your phone, leave your clothes in a locker with a four-digit code you create, then text Pressbox so it knows to grab your pieces that same day. Two days later, you’ll pick up your cleaned, pressed, great-smelling wardrobe in the same place you dropped it off.
Pressbox’s prices are comparable to what you’d pay at most dry cleaners in town (shirts $2, dresses $9). Though there’s a 15-pound minimum, you’d be surprised how fast your clothes add up--especially when all you wear are chunky wool sweaters and coats the size of comforters.
