The tie-dyed scarf we have to have
This was once our coolest outfit: a pair of ripped jeans, Birkenstocks and an ex-boyfriend?s tie-dyed Phish concert tee. But these days, we like our tie-dye to look a little more polished--if still as free-spirited as ever.
We recently spotted an eye-catching tie-dyed top in the window of the Lincoln Park boutique The Green Goddess. (It was this weekend-ready Free People tunic for $78, which we promptly took home to layer over leggings.) And as we browsed the sustainably-minded clothing and home accessories shop, we realized we?d stumbled into the epicenter of hippie-chic style in Chicago.
Our favorite find: supersoft modal scarves ($95) by Brightly Twisted, a small Livonia, Michigan-based company that has perfected the art of the must-have transitional accessory. The tie-dyed scarves? colors are rich and saturated, and the fabrics are ultralight--we?d tuck one into our handbag to keep fall?s cool breezes at bay no matter what kind of outfit we have on.
Also on our wish list are fun, relaxed tracksuits by L.A.-based Peace Love World, which are printed with words like ?strength? and ?happy? and beloved by everyone from J. Lo to Ellen.
Even celebs have an inner flower child.
