Watch for It
Our favorite chick flicks screened outdoors
Air-conditioning is nice and all, but otherwise we?re not so into spending a fine summer evening in a dark movie theater with the smell of days-old popcorn wafting through a superchilled room.
Luckily, our favorite rom-coms are coming to big outdoor screens this summer--and since we know these films so well, we can wait for our favorite lines while whispering with friends over cocktails.
Here are the three must-sees:
July 29 at dusk: He?s Just Not That Into You
You can slurp a yummy rum punch ($14) on Movie Mondays on the Wit?s ROOF. Just make sure to wrangle ample napkins from your server: Booze plus Jennifer Anniston breakups (and makeups) equals a misty-eyed moment or two. 201 N. State St.; thewithotel.com or 312-239-9501
August 4 at dusk: This Is 40
Some people lamented that Judd Apatow?s This Is 40 was 134 minutes of midlife torture. But there?s still this hilarious scene to look forward to, and at the Sunday Night Movie Series, we?ll be too busy relaxing in plush lounge seating and sipping rosé on the Conrad Hotel?s rooftop terrace to think about growing older. 521 N. Rush St.; conradhotels3.hilton.com or 312-645-1500
August 20 at 6:30 p.m.: Dreamgirls
You won't miss a moment of Effie?s plight: The new Millennium Park film series will use its high-tech outdoor screen and state-of-the-art sound system to project our hometown girl JHud?s glorious pipes. Pritzker Pavilion, 201 E. Randolph St.; millenniumpark.org
