New solutions for summer hair
The humidity this week has made it feel like we are forcibly pushing air out of our way just to make it down the sidewalk. ??
The situation is not exactly working wonders for our naturally prone-to-frizz hair.
To primp for our next round of (sweltering) rooftop soirees, we called in experts at two local salons who are using innovative products (Cashmere lifter! Crushed pearl spritzes!) to create blowouts that stay sleek through the weekend. ??
Cashmere Blowout At George the Salon in River North, a stylist generously spritzed our roots with a Davines cashmere-protein-infused texturizer to create lightweight lift. Then she layered on a Kérastase oil elixir and combed the mixture through our wet locks before drying into soft waves with a round brush. Cost: $50. Verdict: Still shiny and bouncy after an outdoor cocktail party and a bike ride the next morning. 23 W. Hubbard St., 4th fl.; 312-923-9444 or georgethesalon.com
Gemstone Blowout At Sine Qua Non, a Bumble and Bumble heat-activated balm containing a blend of crushed pearl, tourmaline, sapphire and malachite was worked into our damp hair to relax curls and smooth frizz. With a flat brush, the stylist gave us a straight, glossy style. Cost: $35. Verdict: Swingy and polished through an alfresco dinner; looked great in a ponytail for our next-day workout.
